Week 2 // Classmate Conversation: Jackie Sanchez

On the second week of class, I sat next to and had a conversation with Jackie Sanchez. Like me, this is her second year at CSULB and is also undeclared. She’s interested in Psychology and Education, which showed when we talked about the Question of the Week. We definitely agreed on the fact that art is very relevant in today’s world, and although we had the same idea, we put it in different words. She finds that art can be used as an alternative to words. Whatever can’t be put into words can be communicated through art! One thing she said that stood out was that she believes that inner thoughts, feelings, emotions, movements, etc. can be and are expressed through art to advocate social change and justice. She was right considering our artist of the week who definitely used art to demonstrate his thoughts about current global and social issues.
